 Hi Bill


It’s a bit of a blah day up this way, and I don’t seem to want to leave the computer.

I was thinking about your poetry, and a sketchbook idea, a means to keep track of your poems as the years pass. Sometimes, when an idea strikes me in the middle of sketching, I'll combine my sketchbook with the poem, or a comment….

We were staying at Phil's and Theresa’s cottage up at Tyson Lake. I got up really early, when it was still dark outside, and made myself a cup of coffee, and went out and sat at the picnic table. I listened and watched as the sun came up, and feeling inspired wrote in my sketchbook….adding a small watercolour. I still remember that morning. I remember Phil and Theresa. Wonderful people. Now passed.

In this instance I was sitting making a small watercolour of Wolf Creek that flows into Tyson Lake. A gull swam up to where I was sitting, looking for a handout, but I had notheing, and noting that its wing was trailing in the water wrote...

There was a time when we did a lot of canoeing and, my mind ever active, I would write poetry in my mind while paddling. So many great poems that, unfortunately, got lost in the jumble of the day’s events, and disappeared before we got back to the shore. I believe that they may be waiting for me to one day catch up somewhere, somewhere. 

Anyways, I still carry one of my sketchbooks whenever I travel, as you never know when inspiration might strike.
