I WATCH

I WATCH

I watch from my window as the past,

the present, and the future,

go marching by.

The past walks slowly, some stumble, some mumble,

all sad, not glad, having spent time allotted  trying

to fix the broken, but find that now there is no time left,

and what they’ve done to fix what they found broken,

although it seemed their best, now ignored, or judged

for bad decisions.

The present slouch past, and give the impression, that

indecision undercut their mission, leaving chance of revision

someone else’s mission. Spoiled from birth, sheltered from truth, they

shy from decision expecting someone else

to complete their mission.

The future skips by, eyes wide shut, failing to realize their future …

a destiny not a given.
