Life After Eighty

 November 10, 2025.

Awoke this morning to snow flurries. Jack Frost paid us a visit last night, not that it wasn’t expected. We had hoped, hoped that he’d hold off his annual visit until some after Christmas, but no, he decided to come early. And, with the arrival of Jack Frost came more bad news.

I received notice from Blurb Publishing, the self publishing publisher that I’ve used for years revealing that as of this coming January they will cease publishing on several of their software platforms. Now, my first thought was that anyone who might want to purchase any of my titles would be unable, and  that would be the end of my publishing effort. But then, when the initial shock wore off, I realized that I had after-all accomplished my goal, I had hard copies of each book, and still had PDF copies that I might share. As well, if I wished, I could translate the PDFs into EPUB copies for publication on Apple, or Amazon. It’s not that I will, of course. I could have sent my Blurb publication to Amazon at the outset of my publishing effort, but recalled a similar effort with my first PDF books way back in 1999 -2000, and remembered that the effort was not worth the return. So, here we are, back at the beginning.

Am I disappointed?  A bit perhaps, but considering that I’ve published some 20 or more books and articles, and shared much of my writings and sketches with nearing 100 thousand persons on the world wide web, I believe that I’ve accomplished more than most. Besides, I will continue to scribble a line or two, make that odd sketch, and post it to my blogs…… Life goes on….. until it doesn’t!
