The Beat Of A Drum

OCTOBER 12, 2025: 

Peace of a sort has been brokered with Hamas in Gaza. One cannot help but wonder just how long it will last. Already factions in Gaza have begun skirmishes with Hamas. Time will tell, I suppose. In the meantime all over the world wars continue. Perhaps, we should accept that peace was never built in the human psyche, and accept that war is never ending, and that peace is but wishful thinking.

The Beat Of A Drum

We’re lost in a world full of boundaries

not knowing what’s right, 

nor what’s wrong, knowing only, 

that something,

something must be done.

Blindly,

we seek advice from our leaders,

and march to the beat of a drum

from those who sit in the bleachers,

free from the maelstrom 

of the ongoing scrums.

And when it’s all over, 

we bury the cadavers,

pick up the pieces, and 

return to our labours,

not knowing what’s right, 

nor what’s wrong, only

that something, 

something had to be done.

Chaos, 

confusion, 

wars,

never ending,

and always…..

the beat of a drum.
