THE CHAIR
If we're lucky, and I say this with tongue in cheek, to live a very long life, most will end their days in silence. Men mostly, as women in nursing homes seem to be treated differently. All the same, nolonger a part of society, the very aged slip into their own world......
THE CHAIR
The chair was old,
high backed,
quite worn and thin,
as was the old woman
who sat in the chair.
She sat in the chair,
from dawn until dusk
alone with memories,
long turned to dust.
Day after day she sat,
and just stared, oblivious
of time passing,
alone with her thoughts.
What she remembered
we shall never know, but
a fleeting smile,
a tear now and then,
let us know that
she still lived within.
Of the old woman,
gone now,
as is the chair,
also the memories,
........gone with the chair.

Ask anyone, and they will agree, although we're prolonging life we're doing it at the expense of living.
Prolonging life has become a business. But then, these days, isn't it all about money. Money, money, money... greed, makes the world go around.
