JUST A DREAM

JUST A DREAM

I read the news. this morning.

It’s a joke,

isn’t it? Please,

tell me that it’s a joke, 

and that it’s all a bad dream, 

and that soon I’ll wake up and find 

that it was just  that,

a bad dream,

and that the dreams 

that I held yesterday 

continue to be real,

and not as I dreamed,

world ending,

all up in smoke, 

with wars everywhere,

famine and pestilence

around every corner,

soldiers guns at the ready,

the sky filled with rockets,

corrupt politicians,

people with hands out,

beseeching,

so many, 

please,

tell me that its just a bad dream,

and that the news,

as we call it, just facts 

pushed to extreme, and

all part of the dream.

It’s all a joke,

isn’t it?
