WAITING

I hate ageing

As most everyone does

Waiting,

But for what

Raised on a diet

Of heaven 

And hell

A god

A devil

Fire

And brimstone

And fear

An order 

To keep us in line

And a carrot left dangling

Temptation

For all time

A circle unbroken

Since the beginning of time

A distraction

While ageing

While waiting

For what

A fate hidden

A door open wide

A light

Or darkness

An end to our time

Wish that I knew

But then 

Maybe not

Something

To think about

While ageing

And waiting....
