 LEGACY IN A BOTTLE

Bob Newhart died today 

Everyone, it seems 

is going away

The trouble with getting,

some say growing, 

old, is that it’s a reminder,

that no one gets left behind,

it’s just a matter of time

before you join the throng

and leave your life behind.

But, before the journey, 

to gods know where, 

take some time

to sit and rhyme 

some words,

to store in a jar, 

to toss upon the waves,

in hopes of landing on 

some distant shore  

addressing moments in your life 

that might be read, 

a legacy to share.
