Global warming…. is real!

Temperatures  are rising, 

glaciers are melting, and 

oceans continue to grow.

People are starving, 

prayers go unanswered, 

and with hope fading, 

millions are migrating.

Some say apocalypse, 

while some wring their hands,  

others take a stand, and demand that 

swift action be taken to stop what began,

 a long time ago.

Truth be known there’s nothing to be done 

to change what is happening unless,

change is adopted by all, 

and even if there is consensus for change, 

nothing will change, only stop what’s happening, 

and slowly …...ease our fall.

We had our chance a long time ago, but 

greed persuaded us to push Nature aside, 

we thought for us all.

We thought that we could do better,

better for some, and 

set about undoing 

what Nature had done. 

We altered the Earth as we pleased, 

plundered its resources, and levelled the trees, 

and now with life in the balance,  and

the dominos falling, some think that we can 

undo the damage that’s already been done.

Windmills, and panels to absorb the sun, 

the answer for power to allow us to continue 

to plunder the Earth, and rob it….

for all that it’s worth.

But with consensus alluding, 

and no one prepared to give up their phone, 

their lattes, and their very large homes,

life that was pleasing is now…. 

all but a dream .

The future, what future? 

Don’t hold your breath.

The future seemingly bleak,

horrible for some,

unless something…..

is done!
